19 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” – Ephesians 2:19-22
The Church is not a psychedelic rock band. It is not a religious service. A church is not a brick and mortar building. It is not a group of people who call themselves “Christians” within their denomination.
The Church, by a more true definition, is a assembly of two or more people who worship only God anywhere; which you get the congregation of universal, regional, local, or house church and even a cell group.
The Church is the people of God. You will find scriptures in the old and new testaments that defines who are the people of God in your studies. For now I will tell you the translations that I found in the Strong’s Concordance. In the Hebrew, which is the old testament, the word is Qahal (kaw-hal). It is translated in English as “to assemble, gather.” The typical Hebrew word for Israel’s religious gathering. In Greek, which the new testament, the word is Ekklessia (ek-kay-see’-ah). It is translated into English as “a gathering of citizens called out from their homes into a public place, an assembly.” It is also denotes Israel sacred meetings, and it applies to today’s assembly of those who profess faith in and allegiance to Jesus Christ.
The Church is a body of Christ, the brother/sisterhood, the household of God, knitted together as one. Individual Believer’s in Christ are called out in their holy temple, the dwelling place of Holy Spirit. We must glorify our bodies, and know that the Spirit of God lives there. Let read the scriptures below:
1 Corinthians 3: 16-17
16 Do you not know that your are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and this what you are.
2 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
You are the Church, The Called Out Ones!
